Jalandhar: A guest lecture was organized by the Department of Physical Education and Sports at Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, Khiala Campus.The event was held under the blessings of the university’s spiritual leaders and the guidance of Chancellor Sant Baba Manmohan Singh, Secretary Hardaman Singh Minhas, and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Vijay Dhir. The lecture focused on the topic, “Revisiting the Basic Principles of Physical Education and Sports in the 21st Century,” and saw active participation from students and faculty members.
The keynote speaker for the session was renowned scholar Dr. Jaspal Singh, former Principal of Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar. He is widely respected as a sports administrator, writer, and researcher, and has guided thousands of students and athletes. He has also been dedicated to promoting sports, fitness, and holistic education. In his address, Dr. Jaspal Singh spoke in detail about the growing importance of physical education and sports in today’s world. He emphasized that in the modern era, book knowledge alone is not enough, and maintaining physical fitness is equally important. The program was conducted in the university seminar hall under the supervision of Dr. Amarjeet Singh.
On this occasion, Registrar Rajinder Kumar, Deputy Registrar Roop Singh, and deans from various departments were present, including Dr. Gurmanik Kaur (Deputy Dean Academics), Dr. Jagdeep Kaur (Dean, UIET), Dr. Pooja Bali (Dean, UIL), Dr. Nisha (Director, R&D), Dr. Anil Kumar (IQAC), Dr. Jagteshwar Singh (Director, Training and Placement), Dr. Amarinder Singh (Dean, Alumni), Dr. Kulveer Singh (Dean, UIA), Dr. Amarjeet Singh (Dean, UIE), Dr. Mandeep Singh (Dean, UIH), and Dr. Shweta Singh (Dean, UIAHS), along with heads of departments and faculty members. At the end of the session, the department thanked the keynote speaker and honored him with a memento.
