Jalandhar: The Department of Extra Mural Activities (EMA), in collaboration with the Institute's Innovation Council, D.A.V. College, Jalandhar, organised the much-anticipated DAV Carnival 2026. The event was a spectacular confluence of entrepreneurial flair, cultural vibrancy, and youthful energy, and drew enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and distinguished guests alike. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Vijay Mahajan, CMD, Tagore Hospital, Jalandhar, who was the Chief Guest of the programme. Justice N. K. Sood, AAP Halqa In charge Sh. Nitin Kohli, acclaimed Punjabi singer and actor Sh. Sarabjeet Singh Cheema, famous folk artist Sh. Dalwinder Dayalpuri and Anchor Sh. Vikas Mongia were the distinguished guests of the day. The occasion also witnessed the esteemed presence of Sh. Raminder Aujla, Sh. Kuljit Singh, Sh. Rajbir Malhi, Sh. Kulvinder Singh Hayer, Sh. Jaspal Singh, Sh. Harpreet Singh, Sh. Kranti, Sh. R K Gupta, Sh. Subhash Sharma, and Sh. Vipin Jhanji from Dainik Savera. LMC Members Sh. Manoj Soni, Sh. J.P. Midha and Sh. Rajiv Makol, also attended and lent their support to the event. Prof. Sharad Manocha moderated the event.
Principal Dr. Anoop Kumar, Vice-Principals Prof. Kunwer Rajeev and Prof. Sonika Dania, Registrar Prof. Ashok Kapoor, Deputy Registrar Prof. Manish Khanna, Dean EMA Dr. Ekjot Kaur, along with faculty members, extended a warm and hearty welcome to the guests. They were honoured with tokens of love and appreciation as a mark of the college's gratitude and respect. The Chief Guest, Dr. Vijay Mahajan, formally inaugurated the DAV Carnival 2026.
Principal Dr. Anoop Kumar formally welcomed all the distinguished guests and shared his vision for the event. Describing the event as a first of its kind, he highlighted that it had been a much-anticipated event, and a significant milestone for the institution. He also inspired students to harness their potential as future entrepreneurs. The Chief Guest, Dr. Vijay Mahajan, in his address, expressed his admiration for the college's initiatives and encouraged the student community with motivating words. AAP Halqa In charge Sh. Nitin Kohli encouraged the students to participate in community-driven initiatives to make a meaningful contribution to society.
The Chief Guest and other esteemed guests visited the various stalls set up by the students, where the young participants showcased their entrepreneurial skills with remarkable creativity and enthusiasm. There were a total of 60 stalls, which reflected the students' innovative thinking, business acumen, and dedication. The guests praised the efforts of the students and appreciated the culture of enterprise nurtured by the college. Adding a rich cultural dimension to the event, the students of the Department of EMA delivered spirited performances of Luddi and Bhangra. Sh. Sarabjeet Singh Cheema elevated the festive spirit of the occasion with a soul-stirring performance, and enthralled the audience with captivating renditions of his timeless songs like Vaar Shaheed Uddham Singh, Mela Do Din Da, and Rangla Punjab. Sh. Dalwinder Dayalpuri also captivated the audience with a thrilling performance. The programme was further enlivened by anchor Vikas Mongia with his impressive mimicry act.
The energy at the DAV Carnival 2026 was nothing short of electric, as a massive wave of students and visitors swarmed the stalls from the moment the gates opened. The food zone was a sensory overload, with the spicy aroma of local street food drawing in endless queues that moved across the grounds. Nearby, the games arena was a theatre of high-stakes excitement; the air was thick with the sound of cheering and rhythmic clapping as participants tested their luck at ring-toss or competed in spirited rounds of tambola. From the vibrant decor of the craft stalls to the bass-heavy music thumping from the main stage, the sheer density of the crowd created a pulse of collective joy that defined the day. It wasn’t just a fair—it was a beautiful celebration where every corner of the campus seemed to burst with laughter and the shared thrill of a perfect afternoon.
The excitement of the day peaked with the announcement of the raffle Draw results, and the winners were felicitated with prizes to enthusiastic cheers from the audience. Recognising and rewarding the hard work, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit, prizes were also distributed to the students who had Best Stall at the carnival.
Dean EMA Dr. Ekjot Kaur delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing heartiest gratitude to the Chief Guest, distinguished guests, LMC members, faculty, and the students whose dedication and enthusiasm made DAV Carnival 2026 a grand success. She acknowledged the collaborative efforts that went into organising this vibrant event and commended all stakeholders for their wholehearted support.
