Jalandhar: Dr Rahul Kumar, Associate Professor in the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at DAV University, has been conferred with the prestigious Dr Swaminathan Award by the Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology (UCoST) in recognition of his significant contributions to Agriculture and Allied Sciences.
The award was presented during the International Conference titled Regenerative and Resilient: Shaping the Future of Agriculture through Sustainability (RRSFAS 2026), organised at MDU, where Dr Kumar was also invited to deliver a keynote lecture on the topic, “Horsegram: A Forgotten Potential Legume.”
Apart from delivering the keynote address, Dr Kumar chaired a session of invited speakers and also co-chaired a technical session during the conference proceedings, highlighting his academic leadership in the field of sustainable agriculture.Adding another feather to the institution’s cap, his PhD scholar, Mr Narayan Singh, received the Outstanding PhD Thesis Award for his research work.
Expressing gratitude on the occasion, Dr Rahul Kumar thanked UCoST and MDU officials, his collaborators, colleagues, students, family members and well-wishers for their continuous support. He also acknowledged the encouragement extended by the management of DAV University and paid tribute to all his teachers for their guidance throughout his academic journey.
